JESSICA HANSEN

Foods

Hi, my name is Jessica Hansen. I currently teach classes in the Culinary Pathway at Norte Vista High School. At a young age I developed an interest in cooking and baking. I loved to make and develop my own recipes and creations.  I am also passionate about nutrition education and practice. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Consumer Science and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I feel very lucky to have a job that I absolutely love. I appreciate that CTE classes provide student engagement focused, hands-on learning and integrated instruction. Every day in Foods I see students develop skills in problem solving, communication, collaboration, time management and critical thinking. I watch them build on their understanding of math, biology and chemistry principles through challenging, fun, hands-on learning activities. It is incredibly fulfilling to observe students build their confidence, unleash their creativity and improve in skills that will benefit them in their education, future careers and personal lives.

JUSTIN MARTZKE

Fine Woodworking

Greetings! I was born and raised in Michigan, and then after graduating from Western Michigan University, I headed west to California. I spent my first two years teaching in the Hemet Valley, and then I made the switch to Norte Vista. I taught English for a long time, and I’ve gradually made the switch to Industrial Arts. I had a great run with English, and I still have a lot of love for the subject, I’m also super excited to be in the wood shop. I live in Upland with my wife and daughter.

DAVID DANKS

Transportation

I was born and raised in a large family of 15 siblings in the Motor City. I have had a tool in my hand since age 9 and working on my first car at the age of 12. I have been teaching for over 20 years and was honored when asked to bring the Automotive Program back to Norte Vista High School 3 years ago. I am proud to say that the district has spared no expense in the state of the art tools and equipment for the students to use. We have a very supportive staff and community that all have welcomed its return with donations and help to get the program up and running. The district has started the process with partnering with the local businesses to provide the students opportunities for an apprenticeship/internship in order to jump start their career.
