Film Production 2 students, Chidike Nwankwo (12th Grade) and Jayden Mendoza (10th Grade) recently won 1st Place in the state of California for their entry to the Directing Change - Hope and Justice - monthly contest.
November’s contest asked youth to create art, films, written works, or original songs about how they cope with tough times (Hope), the changes they want to see in their communities (Justice), and the uplifting power of music and the importance of mental health for the monthly prompt, “Music and Mental Health.”
Chidike and Jayden wrote and produced their own original song based on the theme. They shot and edited their own winning music video, featuring both artists performing their original song.
The artists were awarded Amazon gift cards and may have the opportunity to perform at an upcoming Directing Change red carpet event.
